When do overstay fines start?
Use the permitted-stay end date recorded by ICP or, for Dubai-issued files, GDRFA Dubai. Visa validity, the period allowed after entry, and a residence grace period are different things. Do not add a blanket 10-day tourist grace period or assume every resident receives 30 days.

The official assessment may include separate service or departure-related charges. The amount shown by ICP or GDRFA is the amount to verify and settle.

- Identify the authority that issued the visa or residence file: GDRFA for Dubai files, or ICP for the federal immigration service.
- Open ICP or the GDRFA Dubai fine collection service. Use the official inquiry service and the identifiers it requests, such as your passport or file details.
- Check the person, file number, permitted-stay deadline and violation details before proceeding.
- Follow the payment or case-resolution instructions on the official service. Save the receipt and confirm the status after payment.

Can an overstay fine be reduced?
A reduction or exemption requires the issuing authority’s applicable process and a decision on your case. It is not an automatic early-payment discount. Ask ICP or GDRFA about the relevant service and supporting documents, and verify that any announced amnesty is still open.
